About the role#
This internship is part of the Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) program for the Fall 2026 term. This opportunity is exclusively for students who have already applied to the WDTS program and received selection by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Lab Education Director. The program aims to support a pipeline of skilled workers in STEM fields through research experiences at Department of Energy national laboratories.
What you'll do#
Interns will work approximately 40 hours per week under the close supervision of laboratory staff scientists or engineers. Responsibilities include:
- Complete the full 10-16 week program.
- Participate in research in an assigned area.
- Attend all scheduled events, including lectures, tours, and group activities.
- Complete required entrance and exit surveys.
- Submit a research project report and an abstract of research activities.
- Deliver an oral or poster presentation on research outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Notification of acceptance into a WDTS program (CCI or SULI).
- Selection by the LLNL Lab Education Director.
- Status as a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. national, or U.S. protected individual).
- Enrollment or recent completion of a Bachelor's degree without having started graduate studies.
- Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
