This internship is exclusively for students who have already been accepted into the Office of Science Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) program and selected by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Lab Education Director. The program supports undergraduate students—including those who have completed a Bachelor's degree but have not yet begun graduate studies—in pursuing STEM careers through research experiences at a national laboratory.
What you'll do#
Interns are expected to commit to a 10-16 week program, working approximately 40 hours per week. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting research in an assigned area under the close supervision of laboratory staff scientists or engineers.
- Attending all scheduled events, including lectures, facility tours, and group activities.
- Completing entrance and exit surveys, submitting a research project report, and providing an abstract of your work.
- Delivering an oral or poster presentation on the outcomes of your research activities.
What you'll need#
- Official notification of acceptance into a WDTS program (such as CCI or SULI) and selection by the LLNL Lab Education Director.
- Academic background in Physics, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Mathematics, Data Science, or Chemistry.
- Status as a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, U.S. national, or protected individual) to comply with U.S. Export Control requirements.
