    About the role#

    Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is hiring undergraduate students and recent graduates for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Defense Technologies Engineering Division to support research projects, conceptual designs, and product development processes. This is a full-time, on-site internship where you will work alongside a mentor to gain practical experience in your field.

    What you'll do#

    • Perform technical assignments with a focus on core engineering processes.
    • Provide technical support to engineers and scientific staff on research and development projects.
    • Research assigned topics under close supervision.
    • Use standard software packages to complete daily tasks.
    • Gather, analyze, and document technical data.
    • Share information and engage in open dialogue with team members.
    • Attend seminars, facility tours, and connect with other students.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment at an accredited institution pursuing a degree in mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering, or a related technology field.
    • A record of strong academic performance.
    • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a team environment.
    • Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
    • Completion of your junior year is preferred, as is a GPA of 3.5 or above.
    • Prior technical project experience, internships, or leadership roles are considered an asset.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Livermore, California.
    • Modality: Full-time on-site.
    • Pay: $23.26 to $31.62 per hour, based on your most recent completed academic year.
    • Requirements: You must be a U.S. person to comply with U.S. Export Control regulations. Selected candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test.
