About the role#
The Materials Engineering Division (MED) offers graduate internships for the summer of 2027. This program provides students the opportunity to contribute to research projects within the Engineering Directorate. You will work alongside scientists and engineers to support technical objectives across various scientific disciplines.
What you'll do#
- Provide research and technical support for projects in fields such as electrical, mechanical, optical, chemical, and ceramic engineering, as well as material science, data science, applied physics, and bio-engineering.
- Perform technical assignments of basic complexity under limited supervision.
- Assist scientists with research and development tasks.
- Present findings and communicate results to your research group.
- Attend relevant seminars to further your professional development.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a graduate student in good standing at an accredited institution, or completion of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Academic background in Computer Science, Physics, or Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Biomedical Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Experience applying scientific or engineering principles to solve technical problems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to document work and deliver technical presentations.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
