    About the role#

    Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is hiring graduate students for the Defense Technologies Engineering Division. This internship supports the Strategic Deterrence Principal Directorate. You will work on research, conceptual design, analysis, and technology development. This is a full-time, on-site position for the summer of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Work directly with a mentor on engineering projects.
    • Conduct research in an assigned area under limited direction.
    • Perform technical assignments of a basic degree of complexity.
    • Provide advanced technical support to engineers in research and development projects.
    • Document and communicate technical data results.
    • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.
    • Attend relevant seminars.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Must be a continuing college or university student in good standing.
    • Pursuing a graduate degree or have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
    • Ability to access the laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the NDAA.
    • A track record of outstanding academic performance.
    • Experience applying advanced engineering principles to solve technical problems.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Technical project experience, internships, or leadership experience.
    • Ability to work creatively, analytically, and independently with minimal direction.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Eagerness to contribute in a team-oriented environment.

    • Location: Livermore, California.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Work Modality: Full-time on-site.
