    About the role#

    The Defense Technologies Engineering Division is hiring undergraduate students and recent graduates for a summer internship. You will gain practical experience by supporting engineering projects that involve research, conceptual design, diagnostics, and manufacturing principles. This role requires full-time, on-site work for 10-12 weeks during the summer of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Work directly with a mentor in your field of study.
    • Perform technical assignments with a basic degree of complexity.
    • Provide technical support to engineers and scientific staff on research and development projects.
    • Participate in research under close supervision.
    • Use standard software packages to complete common tasks.
    • Gather and analyze data to support engineering research.
    • Document and communicate technical results.
    • Share information and participate in open dialogue.
    • Attend seminars, facility tours, and interact with other students.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment at an accredited institution pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, design/drafting, or a related field.
    • A sustained record of outstanding academic performance with a GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks.
    • Technical project experience and familiarity with tools associated with your field.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
    • Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the NDAA.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Livermore, California.
    • Work modality: Full-time on-site.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Compensation: $23.26 to $31.62 per hour, based on a step structure determined by your most recent completed academic year.
