About the role#
The National Security Engineering Division (NSED) offers undergraduate internships for students in engineering, physics, and computer science. You will work alongside engineers, scientists, and technical mentors to provide solutions for national defense, energy, and fundamental physics projects. This internship provides practical research experience to support your educational and career goals.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical and research assignments in your field of study.
- Gather and analyze data to support scientific research projects.
- Use standard software packages relevant to your discipline.
- Attend seminars and facility tours to learn about laboratory operations.
- Document your findings and present results through technical presentations or poster sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an associate or bachelor degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics.
- A sustained record of outstanding academic performance.
- Ability to work full time for ten to twelve weeks during the summer.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute in a team environment.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Livermore, California.
- The role is on-site and requires full-time attendance.
- Compensation ranges from $23.26 to $31.62 per hour, based on a step structure determined by your completed academic years.
- Selected candidates must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
