About the role#
This internship program provides graduate students the opportunity to participate in hands-on research. You will work alongside scientists, engineers, and technical staff on projects related to computational science, cyber defense, and mathematics. This is a full-time, paid position running from September 1, 2026, through December 18, 2026.
What you'll do#
- Provide technical and research support for projects in computational science and related areas.
- Support the documentation, testing, and modification of Laboratory software or hardware.
- Conduct research in assigned areas under limited direction.
- Perform technical assignments of basic to moderate complexity.
- Attend at least one seminar per week.
- Present your work through presentations or poster sessions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a graduate program by Winter/Spring 2027 in Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with NDAA Section 3112.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

- Location: Livermore, California.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with flexibility to work from home one or more days per week depending on the assignment.
- Compensation: $10,215 per month.
