About the role#
The Materials Science Division is seeking undergraduate students for research internships during the Fall 2026 term. This role offers practical experience in scientific fields including organic and inorganic synthesis, computational chemistry, materials characterization, electrochemistry, and metallurgy. Interns work under supervision to support ongoing research projects.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research in areas such as synthesis, analytical methods, materials characterization, or computational modeling.
- Collaborate with scientists on laboratory work, data analysis, or computational projects.
- Gather and analyze scientific data to support research objectives.
- Present findings and communicate concepts through formal presentations.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student in good standing at an accredited institution.
- Pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Biology, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to apply basic scientific, engineering, or physics principles to solve technical problems.
- Experience using personal computers and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act.
