About the role#
This internship provides practical research experience for graduate students or recent graduates in chemistry, materials sciences, and related fields. You will contribute to projects spanning organic and inorganic synthesis, analytical chemistry, computational materials science, actinide materials, and metallurgy. This is a full-time, on-site position for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research in an assigned area under limited supervision.
- Perform technical assignments and provide support to scientists on research and development projects.
- Engage in hands-on laboratory work, computation, or data analysis.
- Present your findings through presentations or poster sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program or a recent bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemistry, materials science, computational chemistry, or a related field.
- Demonstrated academic achievement and experience applying scientific principles to solve technical problems.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present concepts effectively.
- Proficiency with personal computers, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eligibility to access the Laboratory in compliance with Section 3112 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

- Compensation: $6,752 to $8,201 monthly, based on a step structure determined by completed academic years.
