About the role#
This year-round internship focuses on agricultural energy research. You will work with the InSPIRE team to support stakeholder engagement and develop educational materials for the Agrivoltaics Technical Assistance Program. The role involves hands-on field research at the BARN site to study how agrivoltaic production impacts crop yield, soil health, and water stress.
What you'll do#
- Assist with stakeholder engagement and the development of educational materials.
- Perform on-site crop data collection at the BARN research site.
- Conduct geospatial and technical potential analysis regarding on-farm energy opportunities.
- Collect and analyze on-farm energy data, including field research on agrivoltaics.
- Provide technical assistance to stakeholders interested in on-farm energy solutions.
- Conduct literature reviews and maintain data catalogs related to on-farm energy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in analyzing agriculture, energy, and water data sets.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong recordkeeping abilities.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Majors in Agriculture, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, or Economics are relevant to this work.
