    About the role#

    The Integrated Modeling and Economic Analysis Group is looking for a graduate intern to support the Fuels and Industry Integrated Optimization (FINITO) model. You will work with senior researchers to evaluate energy systems, industrial fuel supply, and the economic implications of energy technology improvements. This is a year-round, full-time position that offers the opportunity to contribute to research on energy demand and manufacturing competitiveness.

    What you'll do#

    • Research, acquire, and analyze complex datasets that require significant pre-processing and harmonization.
    • Assist in the development of new data architectures to describe infrastructure systems.
    • Edit processing scripts and coordinate data workflows.
    • Execute research scenarios and interpret the results through visualization tools like Tableau.
    • Contribute to technical reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and presentations for workshops and conferences.
    • Assist senior researchers in the design and implementation of project research.

    What you'll need#

    • A minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
    • Demonstrated experience in code-based data management and analysis using Python.
    • Experience developing and applying optimization models.
    • A working knowledge of industrial energy and fuels literature.
    • Exceptional teaming and organizational skills.
    • Familiarity with GAMS.
    • Enrollment in a relevant graduate program or recent completion of a degree within the past 12 months in fields such as Environmental, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Economics.
