About the role#
Mortenson is seeking a Risk Management Intern for the summer of 2027. This position offers exposure to insurance contracts, risk program operations, claims, and general department procedures. You will work directly with project teams to help protect construction projects from loss.
What you'll do#
- Support Risk Analysts in evaluating project risk and insurance requirements.
- Assist in the review and tracking of trade partner insurance certificates.
- Communicate requirements to project teams, external customers, trade partners, and insurance agents.
- Visualize data using Power BI or Excel.
- Participate in the reporting, data entry, and review of insurance claims.
- Learn about risk management tools including captive insurance, contract language, and trade partner prequalification.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a four-year undergraduate degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Political Science, Psychology, or Civil Engineering.
- Enrollment as an undergraduate junior is preferred.
- Previous internship experience is preferred.
- A basic understanding of construction and business practices.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
