About the role#
This internship supports the Volunteer Services team at the Minnesota Historical Society. You will help recruit, onboard, and train volunteers across various sites. A primary focus for this term is assisting with the rollout of a new volunteer management system, which includes training staff and volunteers on the new software.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service to volunteers and staff.
- Assist with the implementation and training for the new volunteer management system.
- Manage volunteer recruitment by posting opportunities and sending emails.
- Represent the organization at community events and lead information sessions.
- Create and run both in-person and online volunteer orientations.
- Attend three professional development seminars and prepare a final presentation at the end of the semester.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program, or graduation within the past 12 months.
- Coursework or a degree in History, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, or Event Management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a welcoming attitude.
- High attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Comfort learning and using new software systems.
- Confidence when presenting or tabling at public events.
Location & details#
- Location: St Paul, Minnesota.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 19, 2027 to May 23, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.02 per hour.
- Schedule: Part-time, 15 hours per week. Shifts typically occur Monday through Friday between 9am and 5pm, with some required evening and weekend shifts.
