About the role#
Michael Baker International is hiring Bridge Structural Interns for Summer 2027. Based in our Chicago office, you will work under the direction of project engineers and managers. You will support the design of conventional and complex bridges, load ratings, and bridge inspections.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project plans, drawings, design, and analysis.
- Collect, input, verify, and manipulate project data.
- Prepare basic studies, design work, and support inspections.
- Complete simple to moderate calculations, including cost estimates.
- Perform routine analysis and prepare reports summarizing your findings.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelors or Masters of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- At least two years of completed coursework.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with AASHTO, IDOT, and ISHTA design and construction standards is preferred.

- Compensation: $22 to $26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
