Civil Intern, Surface Transportation

About the role#

Michael Baker International is seeking a Civil Intern to join the Surface Transportation team in Columbia, South Carolina. This is a paid, full-time internship opportunity. You will work under the direction of Project Engineers and Project Managers to support various infrastructure projects.

What you'll do#

• Generate design calculations, technical reports, and discipline-specific construction plans.
• Prepare technical specifications and cost estimates.
• Assist with construction inspection activities under the guidance of a Construction Manager.
• Document field activities, research solutions to site problems, and ensure project conformance to plans and specifications.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and prioritize competing project obligations.
• Knowledge or experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is preferred.
• Capacity to learn new skills and work effectively with others.
