About the role#
Michael Baker International is seeking part-time interns for the Summer 2026 term to work on field-based projects in Kansas. This role focuses on the Geospatial discipline and provides the opportunity to work alongside seasoned GIS and Project Managers on Indoor Mapping field collection initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Assist with technical duties and daily activities related to Indoor Mapping field collection projects.
- Collaborate with a team of experienced GIS professionals and Project Managers.
- Conduct field work on specified days, typically Friday through Sunday.
- Travel to various locations across the state of Kansas for data collection as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelor’s degree program in GIS, Geography, Science, or a related field.
- A focus in GIS, Geography, or Environmental Practice is preferred.
- Proficiency in GIS software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in the organization and presentation of documentation.
- Must currently reside in the state of Kansas.
- A valid US Driver's License.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, part-time position requiring 20 to 40 hours per week.
- Field work locations include, but are not limited to, Coffeyville, Garnett, Parsons, Oswego, Cawker City, Beloit, Olpe, Neosho Rapids, Americus, and Allen, Kansas.
- Travel expenses for data collection within Kansas will be covered.
- Compensation is approximately $18 to $22 per hour, dependent on education, experience, and qualifications.
