About the role#
Metrolinx is hiring an Articling Student for the 2027-2028 term. You will report to a Director or Senior Legal Counsel within our Legal Services department. This is a 10-month contract role where you will provide legal assistance on various general and specialty matters. You will work as part of a team of approximately 80 professionals.
What you'll do#
- Draft and review legal documents, policies, procedures, position papers, reports, correspondence, and memoranda.
- Conduct legal research on diverse matters and assist with the interpretation of findings.
- Recommend and oversee amendments to existing policies and procedures based on legislative or regulatory changes.
- Attend meetings and hearings while participating in a variety of legal transactions.
- Respond to inquiries and collaborate with legal counsel on legal files and issues.
What you'll need#
- A completed LLB or JD from an accredited law school, or a certificate of qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation.
- Registration as a candidate in the licensing process with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and oral communication abilities.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- This position is based at 97 Front Street in Toronto, Ontario.
- The role operates under a hybrid work model.
- This is a paid, full-time contract position.
- The term covers Fall 2027, Winter 2028, and Summer 2028.
