About the role#
We are hiring 10 Co-Op students to join our Projects and Operations teams for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary. You will gain hands-on experience through mentorship and exposure to real-world power system projects. Placements will be determined based on your education, skills, and business needs across six specialized areas, including Lifecycle Maintenance, Operational Engineering, System Operations, OT Operations, Project Development, and Project Engineering.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering data analysis, automation, modeling, risk analytics, and reporting.
- Assist with issues on transmission facilities.
- Perform and evaluate power system studies.
- Undertake system impact and risk management studies.
- Develop contingency plans and provide technical support to the Control Centre.
- Support operational network and EMS infrastructure.
- Develop project scoping documents and provide support to projects in development and execution.
- Assist in developing projects and managing portfolio reports.
- Lead projects through governance meetings.
- Meet with customers to understand requirements and document accountabilities.
- Prepare cost estimates and risk evaluations.
What you'll need#
- You are currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering program at a recognized university and have completed at least two years of study.
- You are enrolled in a formal Co-Op or internship program.
- You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- You possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You are a dedicated team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- You have excellent time management skills and can manage multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of electrical transmission facilities, such as substations, civil works, lines, P&C, and SCADA, is preferred.
