About the role#
NOVEC is hiring an engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Manassas, Virginia. You will work directly with our operations team to maintain the reliability of our electric distribution system.
What you'll do#
- Analyze reliability indices including SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI, and MAIFI.
- Examine trends and events on the electric system.
- Perform routine calculations and reliability studies.
- Review smart meter data for power quality.
- Conduct field visits to verify existing conditions.
- Update circuit one-line diagrams and check the accuracy of the outage model.
- Assist with storm restoration efforts.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or graduate engineering program at an ABET-accredited school.
- Anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Completion of Circuits II and Physics II courses.
- Valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
- Previous engineering work experience is preferred.
- Completed coursework in Power Systems Analysis and Electromagnetics is a plus.
- Interest in a career within the energy industry.
