    About the role#

    NOVEC is hiring an engineering intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Gainesville, Virginia. You will work within the Planning, Substations, and P&C departments to support our electric distribution system.

    What you'll do#

    • Examine trends, events, and adverse conditions across the electric system.
    • Perform routine calculations and studies under the guidance of an engineer or designer.
    • Conduct field visits to verify existing conditions and equipment status.
    • Develop and review material standards.
    • Complete engineering economics reviews of designs and standards.
    • Perform equipment sizing evaluations.
    • Support storm restoration efforts.
    • Handle other duties and projects as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or graduate degree program in an ABET accredited engineering program.
    • Successful completion of Circuits II and Physics II courses.
    • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
    • A valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
    • Previous engineering work experience is desired.
    • Completion of Power Systems Analysis and Electromagnetics courses is desired.
    • A desire to pursue a career in the energy industry is desired.
