About the role#
As a School Psychology Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the daily operations of a school psychologist. You will work to build independence in assessment, evaluation, and student support. This role involves active participation in both general and special education environments while adhering to professional standards and district procedures.
What you'll do#
- Adhere to professional standards and ethics at all times.
- Participate in and facilitate IEP team meetings.
- Contribute to Student Support Team and data meetings to support decision making.
- Consult with parents, school staff, and colleagues to address student needs.
- Provide school-based interventions, including individual and group counseling.
- Use a range of assessment tools covering cognition, achievement, observation, and social-emotional behavior.
- Explain academic, psychological, and behavioral data to stakeholders clearly.
- Participate in MTSS tiers for academic and behavioral support.
- Attend division in-services, training, and staff meetings.
- Maintain a daily log of activities and hours for supervisor review.
- Participate in regular supervisory sessions and college-based internship meetings.
What you'll need#
- Completion of all graduate-level school psychology course requirements before starting.
- Successful completion of practica and a university recommendation confirming readiness for a school-based internship.
- Graduate-level preparation in assessment, evaluation, consultation, MTSS, and report writing.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Reliable, consistent, and punctual in-person attendance.
