About the role#
City Colleges of Chicago is seeking Student Mentors to support the Wellness Center at Truman College. This role acts as a liaison between wellness staff and the student body. You will help promote a cultural shift regarding mental health on campus and assist peers in navigating available mental health and basic needs resources.
What you'll do#
- Advocate for mental health on campus to reduce stigma.
- Engage with peers to improve awareness of college and community resources.
- Support outreach efforts by developing programming materials and social media content.
- Attend monthly meetings with Wellness Center staff.
- Complete administrative and support tasks for Wellness Center programming.
- Participate in ongoing training regarding mental health services and support.
What you'll need#
- Must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago.
- Enrolled in a minimum of 6 semester hours of credit classes.
- Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA.
- High School Diploma or actively pursuing a GED.
- Must be 18 years or older with legal work authorization in the United States.
- Good interpersonal, oral communication, and computer skills.
- Majors in Psychology, Public Health, Communications, Sociology, or Human Resources are preferred.
