About the role#
The Federal Work Study program offers part-time employment to help eligible students meet their educational and living expenses. This position is based in the Career and Transfer Center at Olive-Harvey College. You will gain experience by assisting with daily operations and supporting staff projects.
What you'll do#
- Greet students, faculty, and staff at the reception desk.
- Answer phones and manage office communications via email.
- Perform general office tasks such as filing, faxing, photocopying, and data entry.
- Assist staff with day-to-day functions and various assigned projects.
- Research and communicate with students, faculty, and outside organizations.
- Follow City Colleges of Chicago Customer Services Excellence Standards.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 16 years old, eligible to work in the United States, and have work permit consent.
- You must be actively attending one of the City Colleges of Chicago, enrolled in at least 6 credit or pre-credit hours, and pursuing an approved credential, degree, or certificate.
- You need a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, though this is waived for first-semester students.
- You must be in good standing with no academic restrictions and not currently employed as a full or part-time staff member at City Colleges of Chicago.
- A high school diploma or active pursuit of a GED at City Colleges of Chicago is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and data entry.
- Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and knowledge of City Colleges of Chicago.

- This is a paid, part-time role with a pay rate of $17.05 per hour.
