About the role#
This is a co-op position within our research and development team. You will work on next generation optical transport products. We are looking for students who enjoy solving puzzles and working in a collaborative environment. This role is a paid, full-time opportunity located on-site in Ottawa.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to the development of automated solutions for optical transport products.
- Solve complex technical problems.
- Collaborate closely with Firmware R&D teams.
- Improve the quality and robustness of firmware and hardware tests.
What you'll need#
- You are a 3rd or 4th year student in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- Strong object-oriented software design and implementation skills in any language.
- Experience with tools such as Git, GitHub, Bash, PowerShell, C#, Python, Javascript, XML, gRPC, Jira, ChatGPT, or Copilot.
- Experience with instrumentation, automation, optical instruments, and optical fibers.
- An understanding of optical systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A desire to succeed and complete tasks correctly the first time.
- Eligibility to complete a background check.
Location & details#
- Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (On-site).
- Terms available: Winter 2027 (January to April) or an 8-month term (January to August 2027).
