About the role#
Lumentum is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer Co-op for the Embedded Circuit Pack Software team in Ottawa. This is a full-time, on-site position with a duration of 8 to 12 months. You will work on real projects alongside R&D teams to develop software for high-performance optical products.
What you'll do#
- Develop embedded software while ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
- Design, implement, and support features using C++ on embedded platforms.
- Deliver products independently or as part of a small team.
- Apply software development best practices throughout the product lifecycle.
- Solve complex problems within multi-disciplinary teams.
- Analyze and characterize software failures.
- Share knowledge in areas such as OO analysis and design, code reuse, and multi-threaded system design.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution.
- 3rd or 4th year standing in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related Engineering or Science discipline.
- Strong programming experience in C and C++.
- Experience developing and working with embedded systems.
- Understanding of RTOS.
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with optical systems, TI DSP, and BIOS are considered assets.
