About the role#
Lumentum is looking for a Reliability Test Automation student to join the Optical Communication Transport Engineering team in Ottawa. This role is open for the Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 terms. You will work on-site and participate in programs that support the reliability of our photonic technologies.
What you'll do#
- Write and develop test code for reliability automation suites.
- Maintain and update the reliability lab software and database.
- Consult with users and developers to gather and document project requirements.
- Apply design and testing best practices to solve technical problems.
- Analyze and characterize failures in components.
- Assist with component qualification verification tests, such as HAST.
- Collect and analyze data, compare results against vendor submissions, and prepare reports.
- Apply knowledge of object-oriented programming, code reuse, and design for test.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your 3rd or 4th year of an Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering degree.
- Experience with automation and database management, including Visual Studio (VB.NET or C#), SQL, or XML.
- An understanding of optical systems and instruments.
- Ability to work effectively in a technical, multi-project environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and a focus on completing tasks on time.
- Must be registered as a student at a post-secondary institution.
- Ability to pass a background check.
