About the role#
The Dean of Accreditation and Assessment of Student Learning (DAASL) serves as the Provost’s chief advisor regarding institutional and professional accreditation, academic program effectiveness, and student learning assessment. This leadership role involves providing strategic oversight for college initiatives and structures that support faculty and academic programs. The DAASL manages accreditation and assessment personnel and acts as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer.
What you'll do#
- Manage all aspects of accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission.
- Lead the process for determining the need for new academic programs and the associated financial, faculty, and facility resource requirements.
- Oversee the assessment of course effectiveness, academic programs, general education, and co-curricular education.
- Ensure institutional compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Serve as a chair or ex officio member of college committees related to curriculum and assessment, including the Student Learning Assessment Council and Curriculum Council.
What you'll need#
- A PhD, EdD, or other appropriate terminal degree.
- A minimum of five years of academic administrative experience.
- Proven experience managing and leading academic assessment activities.
- Exceptional leadership skills and a demonstrated ability to work with faculty, staff, and administrators from varied disciplines through collegial consensus-building.
- A deep understanding of policies and processes associated with institutional and professional accreditation.
- Experience in the development and implementation of innovative organizational and academic growth initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to holistic and inclusive approaches to the work.
- Preferred: Experience as a faculty member or experience working in a community college or open access higher education environment.

- Residency: Employees should reside in Ohio within a reasonable commuting distance of the campus.
