The Dean, Accreditation & Assessment of Student Learning (DAASL) serves as the Provost’s chief advisor regarding institutional and professional accreditation, academic program innovation, and the assessment of student learning. This role provides strategic leadership for the planning, development, and monitoring of college initiatives and structures that support faculty and academic programs. The DAASL directly manages accreditation and assessment personnel and serves as the campus Accreditation Liaison Officer.
What you'll do#
- Manage all aspects of accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission.
- Lead the process for determining the need for new academic programs and the necessary financial, faculty, and facility resources.
- Ensure college compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Lead campus assessment of the effectiveness of courses, academic programs, general education, and co-curricular education.
- Serve as an ex officio member or chair of college committees related to curriculum and assessment, including the Student Learning Assessment Council and Curriculum Council.
- Provide oversight for initiatives and structures that support faculty and academic programs.
What you'll need#
- A PhD, EdD, or other appropriate terminal degree.
- A minimum of five years of academic administrative experience.
- Proven experience managing and leading academic assessment activities.
- Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to work with faculty, staff, and administrators from varied disciplines through collegial consensus-building.
- A deep understanding of policies and processes associated with institutional and professional accreditation.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing innovative organizational and academic growth initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to holistic and inclusive approaches to the work.
- Preferred: Experience as a faculty member or experience working in a community college or open-access higher education environment.
