About the role#
As a Student Nurse Technician, you will provide patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will assist with daily living activities and common nursing functions tailored to your progress in your academic program. This role is a part-time, PRN position.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and record vital signs, daily weights, and input/output measures.
- Perform hourly patient rounding and participate in Bedside Shift Report.
- Assist with patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Document data accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Educate patients on their care plans, disease processes, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Perform designated sterile and aseptic procedures under the direction of an RN.
- Report changes in a patient's condition to the supervising Registered Nurse.
- Assist the care team during emergency situations.
- Maintain safety precautions and ensure patient rooms are stocked with supplies.
- Adhere to Infection Control Policy and OSHA Standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited Associate or Bachelor level nursing program.
- Completion of at least one semester of clinicals.
- Evidence of nursing fundamentals skills check-off in a lab or clinical setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
- At least one year of experience as a nurse assistant or in a similar clinical hospital role is preferred.
