About the role#
This is a part-time, PRN position for a Respiratory Therapy Student at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. You will work under the guidance of licensed therapists to support patient care and gain clinical experience in an acute care setting. This role requires a minimum of two shifts per month, including one weekend shift.
What you'll do#
- Assist respiratory therapists with preparing for and providing patient care.
- Deliver routine therapy as delegated by a therapist.
- Assess patient condition and deliver appropriate treatment.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient status.
- Educate patients and their families about illnesses and provide information on support resources.
- Manage respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders, including stocking and storage maintenance.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited respiratory therapy program with at least two semesters completed.
- State Board of Respiratory Care (Student) registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of hire.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise decisive judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are preferred.
