About the role#
As a Polysomnographic Student at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, you will join a team focused on improving sleep health for patients. This is a full-time, on-site role that involves working primarily night shifts, from 8pm to 6am. You will also work two Friday nights per month and travel occasionally to Conemaugh Miners Medical Center.
What you'll do#
- Review patient history and verify medical orders before testing.
- Explain procedures and orient patients to the testing environment.
- Select, calibrate, and adjust equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to published standards.
- Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are clear.
- Recognize sleep versus wake states and identify clinical events during studies.
- Document sleep stages, clinical events, and patient observations.
- Assist with patient safety and therapeutic interventions like oxygen or positive airway pressure.
- Adhere to cleaning and disinfection procedures for all equipment.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED plus six months of direct patient care experience.
- Current enrollment in an accredited educational program.
- Completion of, or enrollment in, an ASTEP program.
- Achievement of the RPSGT credential within 24 months of hire.
- BLS certification, or the ability to complete it during the introductory period.
- Ability to work with patients of all ages, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

- Location: Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
- Schedule: Full-time (36 hours per week).
- Status: Paid internship.
