About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at North Alabama Medical Center, you will work directly with the patient care team to support clinical operations. This role is designed for nursing students to gain hands-on experience while providing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with daily patient needs and contribute to the overall well-being of the individuals we serve.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to the supervising RN.
- Assist patients with daily activities, including nutrition, hygiene, ambulation, and elimination.
- Document all care provided accurately.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and referrals.
- Evaluate the learning needs of patients and families, providing education based on their specific circumstances.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program at a university or college.
- BLS certification, or the ability to obtain it within two weeks of your start date.
