About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at North Alabama Medical Center, you will gain hands-on experience by working directly with our patient care team. This role allows you to apply your nursing education in a clinical setting while receiving guidance from registered nurses. You will support patient well-being and contribute to the daily operations of our healthcare facility.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the supervision and delegation of a registered nurse.
- Assist patients with daily activities, including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and elimination.
- Monitor and record patient conditions, communicating updates to the supervising RN.
- Document the care you provide.
- Collaborate with various disciplines to coordinate patient care and support needs.
- Educate patients and their families based on their specific learning needs, culture, and circumstances.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of every patient.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and your coworkers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program at a university or college.
- BLS certification, or the ability to obtain it within two weeks of your start date.
