About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you will gain hands-on clinical experience while working as part of the patient care team at North Alabama Medical Center. This is a part-time, paid position that supports your professional development while you complete your nursing education.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to your supervising RN.
- Document all care provided during your shift.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and ambulation.
- Work with the broader care team to coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and support needs.
- Provide education to patients and their families based on their specific needs and circumstances.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of every patient.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and your coworkers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program at a university or college.
- BLS certification, or the ability to obtain it within two weeks of your start date.
