About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at Wythe County Community Hospital, you will work with our patient care team to support clinical operations. This is a PRN position that allows you to gain hands-on experience in an acute care setting while continuing your education.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to your supervising RN.
- Document the care you provide to patients.
- Collaborate with the broader patient care team to ensure quality service.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a 2nd year nursing student or higher.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of your hire date.

- Location: Wytheville, Virginia.
- Schedule: PRN.
- Hourly pay range: $19.03 to $25.69.
- Work modality: On-site.
