About the role#
As a Nurse Extern, you work with the patient care team to provide direct support in a hospital setting. This is a paid, part-time position that offers hands-on experience under the guidance of registered nurses. You will assist with daily patient needs and contribute to their overall care and recovery.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the supervision and direction of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to your supervising RN.
- Document the care you provide.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and movement.
- Educate patients and their families based on their specific learning needs.
- Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of every patient.
- Maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and the broader health care team.
- Collaborate across disciplines to help coordinate patient transfers, discharges, and support needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nursing program at a university or college.
- BLS certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 weeks of your start date.
