About the role#
As a Nurse Extern at North Alabama Medical Center, you work with the patient care team to support clinical operations. You perform direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. This role is a part-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Perform direct patient care under the direction, delegation, and supervision of a registered nurse.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions to your supervising RN.
- Document the care you provide.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and elimination.
- Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfers and discharges.
- Evaluate patient learning needs and provide education to patients and their families.
- Act as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
- Maintain positive professional relationships with patients, families, and coworkers.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a nursing program at a university or college.
- BLS certification, or the ability to obtain it within 2 weeks of your start date.
