About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience in purchasing and sourcing within the defense manufacturing sector. You will support procurement activities, monitor purchase orders, and work with internal teams and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials. This role requires adherence to regulatory guidelines and company requirements.
What you'll do#
- Support the submission of RFQs to suppliers to develop Consolidated Material Lists pricing.
- Procure materials, equipment, and supplies of low to medium value.
- Negotiate price, delivery, and quality of products and services.
- Track purchase orders through reports and resolve discrepancies, including receiving and accounting issues.
- Interpret FAR, DFAR, and ITAR laws regarding import and export control.
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage total cost of ownership and delivery schedules.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program for supply chain management, business administration, logistics, or operations management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and basic data modeling.
- Familiarity with SharePoint.
- Strong interest in government procurement, federal acquisition, or defense supply chain management.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Costpoint is a plus.

- Schedule: 9/80 schedule, totaling 80 hours worked over 9 days with every other Friday off.
- Status: Full-time and paid internship.
