About the role#
The IT Knowledge Management team at Kwik Trip is looking for an IT Communications Intern. You will help create and improve technical documentation that supports employees across the company. This role provides hands-on experience in technical writing, content creation, and IT communications while you work alongside technical teams and business partners.
What you'll do#
- Create, update, and maintain knowledge base articles and various IT documentation.
- Gather information from subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate.
- Transform technical details into clear, user-friendly content for different audiences.
- Review and standardize documentation using established templates, style guides, and knowledge management standards.
- Improve the organization, consistency, and searchability of knowledge content.
- Identify outdated, duplicate, or missing documentation and suggest improvements.
- Support onboarding, training, and IT support initiatives through documentation.
- Incorporate feedback to improve content quality and usability.
- Assist with projects related to knowledge management and AI-driven search initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or certificate in Communications, Technical Writing, English, Information Technology, Training and Development, or a related field.
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to explain complex information in a clear, concise manner.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ServiceNow, content management systems, or knowledge management platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with creating process documentation, flowcharts, diagrams, or Adobe Acrobat is helpful.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
- The internship is expected to last approximately six months with potential for extension.
- You must be available to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic semester.
- Flexible scheduling is available to accommodate your academic commitments.
