About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team by providing direct customer care and assisting with daily operations. This role focuses on building a welcoming environment while ensuring the accuracy and safety of all pharmacy services. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to provide counseling, immunizations, and medication management.
What you'll do#
- Provide exceptional service to help customers feel welcome and valued.
- Assist with drug counseling and offer recommendations for over the counter medications.
- Accurately input patient data, interpret prescriptions, and dispense the correct medication.
- Manage insurance processing and contact prescribers for necessary authorizations.
- Administer immunizations under pharmacist supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pharmacy department.
- Handle inventory by checking incoming orders and stocking shelves.
- Support the department manager in meeting sales and profit goals.
- Report any safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
- Assist diverse groups of customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skill in managing conflict in a calm and nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding all customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Capacity to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
