About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team by providing direct patient care and maintaining efficient department operations. You will interact with customers, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure accurate prescription fulfillment and quality service.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and recommend over the counter medications to customers.
- Accept, interpret, and input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense medications and facilitate charge purchases.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies on behalf of customers.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and returning medication bottles.
- Keep the department clean and organized.
- Assist the manager in meeting sales and profit goals while following quality assurance standards.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management immediately.
- Provide support to diverse groups, including older adults and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to manage conflict in a cooperative and nonconfrontational manner.
- Capability to work in a busy environment while maintaining honesty and integrity.
- Ability to follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
