About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work on-site in a retail environment. This role involves direct interaction with customers and supports the pharmacy team in daily operations. You will help maintain a safe, clean environment and ensure that pharmacy services are delivered accurately.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense medication and verify incoming orders.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions for fills and refills.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or coverage issues.
- Process third-party insurance information.
- Bag and deliver prescriptions to customers.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Stock medication and maintain department cleanliness.
- Report safety risks, accidents, or incidents to management.
- Assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current, state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational way.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding business and customer information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek help when needed.
- Capacity to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
