About the role#
Kroger is looking for a Pharmacy Intern to join our team in Opelika, Alabama. This is a part-time, on-site, paid role with a rolling term. You will support our pharmacy operations by providing excellent customer service, maintaining a clean department, and assisting pharmacists with daily tasks.
What you'll do#
- Welcome customers and answer questions about products throughout the store.
- Input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Dispense medication and bag prescriptions for accurate delivery.
- Provide drug counseling and recommend over-the-counter medications.
- Contact prescribers and insurance companies to resolve authorization or processing issues.
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by checking, stocking, and returning medication bottles.
- Maintain a safe environment by reporting accidents, safety risks, or illegal activity to management.
- Assist diverse groups of customers, including minors, older adults, and individuals with special needs.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work in a busy environment while remaining cooperative.
- Skills to manage conflict in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity regarding customer and business data.
- Ability to follow directions and ask for help when needed.
- Capability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
