About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy operations by providing direct care to customers and assisting the pharmacy team. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and organized department while ensuring that all quality assurance standards are met. This role involves interacting with a diverse range of customers and requires a commitment to service, accuracy, and professional integrity.
What you'll do#
- Provide drug counseling and assist customers with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Interpret and input patient and prescription information into the pharmacy system accurately.
- Dispense medications and facilitate the filling or refilling of prescriptions.
- Administer immunizations under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Discuss pharmaceutical products with customers and communicate with prescribers to obtain authorizations.
- Process third-party insurance information and coordinate with insurance companies as needed.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by checking incoming orders, stocking shelves, and returning unused medication bottles.
- Maintain a clean department and uphold safety standards by reporting risks or incidents to management.
- Assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a United States school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a busy environment while managing conflict in a professional manner.
- Commitment to honesty and integrity when handling customer and business data.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Capacity to perform all essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
