About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support our pharmacy team in creating a welcoming environment for every customer. You will assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals while ensuring all quality assurance standards are met. This role involves direct interaction with customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
What you'll do#
- Accept and interpret oral and written prescriptions.
- Input patient and prescription information into the computer system.
- Dispense correct medications and bag them for customer delivery.
- Provide drug counseling and assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations.
- Discuss pharmaceutical products with customers and prescribers.
- Contact prescribers for authorization and communicate with insurance companies.
- Process third-party insurance information and facilitate charge purchases.
- Provide immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Manage inventory by comparing, checking, and stocking incoming orders, and returning unused medication to stock.
- Maintain a clean department environment.
- Notify management of accidents or incidents and report safety risks, theft, or fraud.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a US school of pharmacy.
- A current state-issued Pharmacy Intern license.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Capability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Commitment to acting with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
