About the role#
Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Roadway Engineer Intern to join our team in Lone Tree, Colorado for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid internship focused on gaining experience in the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.
What you'll do#
- Develop proficiency in highway geometric design including horizontal and vertical alignments, typical sections, and super-elevation.
- Create surface models using MicroStation, InRoads, Civil3D, or similar design software.
- Engage in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure project elements are compatible.
- Develop preliminary design concepts for highways and civil features to support cost estimating.
- Create exhibits for meetings and proposals.
- Participate in the final design of project elements such as roadway plans, signing and marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, and wall plan and profile sheets.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A GPA above 3.0 is preferred.
- Basic CAD skills in Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Relevant coursework, class projects, or previous internships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work safely, maintain regular attendance, and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with design-build delivery is preferred.
