About the role#
As a Finance Analyst Intern in the Power Market, you will support project-level accounting and finance functions. Kiewit operates each project like a small business, and you will contribute to cost control, payroll, accounts payable, and human capital management. You will assist in the month-end close process and help prepare financial reporting packages for project management. This role requires working on-site at various locations, as our projects span across the country.
What you'll do#
- Manage payroll and HR workflows, including hiring, transferring, and terminating employees.
- Oversee purchasing workflows and internal controls.
- Handle accounts payable processes and resolve payment or vendor issues.
- Manage intercompany and client billing processes to support cash management.
- Review costs, quantity claiming, and budget structures to ensure accurate reporting.
- Identify and adjust forecast and budget issues.
- Foster relationships with the Operations team and adapt to project needs.
- Maintain compliance with EEO and labor laws at the project level.
- Communicate effectively while maintaining an organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business Administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with a preference for Pivot Tables and V-Look Ups.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot discrepancies.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work safely in all areas of a construction site across various climates.
- Reliable attendance and the ability to meet deadlines.
Location & details#
- Location: Lenexa, Kansas, with the requirement to relocate anywhere in the country as business needs dictate.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Travel: Up to 50% travel or relocation may be required.
- Status: Full-time internship.
