About the role#
Turner Construction is hiring an Operational Finance Intern for our Denver office. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship. You will support our profit centers by applying your academic knowledge to real-world financial tasks. This position is part of a rolling recruitment process for the 2025-2026 academic year.
What you'll do#
- Provide financial services support to profit centers.
- Assist the accounting team with client billing and accounts receivable to ensure contractual requirements are met.
- Process accounts payable for vendor and subcontractor invoices.
- Verify that lien waivers are submitted and that all contracts and insurance requirements are in place.
- Assist with the monthly close process and internal or external audit requests.
- Facilitate data entry for project-specific invoices and prepare multi-project invoices for distribution.
- Help compile supporting documentation for owner payment applications.
- Provide periodic progress reports to your supervisor.
- Participate in company learning opportunities and maintain professional relationships with staff and customers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year college or university, ideally majoring in Accounting or Finance.
- At least one year of education or equivalent experience with basic finance knowledge.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel, along with general database and data entry proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage accurate information.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to work a standard work week.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills through student leadership, volunteerism, or community involvement.
Location & details#
- Location: Denver, Colorado.
- Modality: This is an on-site position based in a Turner office or at a construction project location.
- Requirements: You must be able to navigate construction work environments, including climbing stairs and ladders, and be comfortable working around moving mechanical parts and varying noise levels.
