About the role#
This is a summer internship focused on safety and loss control within the construction industry. You will work on-site at a project location in Buffalo, New York. The position is full-time, running from June through August 2027. You will gain hands-on experience by supporting our safety teams and helping maintain a secure work environment.
What you'll do#
- Help implement the Building L.I.F.E. program and other project safety initiatives.
- Identify and report safety violations or unsafe practices on the jobsite.
- Coordinate and support safety committees, preplanning sessions, and tool box meetings.
- Assist with worker orientations and training sessions for new employees.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet company policies and requirements.
- Conduct jobsite inspections and prepare summaries of your findings.
- Maintain essential safety records, including Job Hazard Analyses, training logs, and incident metrics.
- Support the administration of the company drug screening program.
- Document meetings and conduct research as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited degree program for Engineering (Computer, Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental), Occupational Safety & Health, or a related field.
- At least one year of completed education or equivalent experience.
- A basic understanding of safety and environmental principles.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard collaboration tools.
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
- A proactive mindset and a desire to learn about construction management.
- Flexibility to work standard business hours and overtime as needed.
- Access to reliable transportation.
