About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management within our Underground District. You will participate in daily operations for projects like tunnel boring, shaft excavation, and concrete work. Most of your time will be spent on-site, often working underground. We look for individuals ready to learn the technical and administrative side of large-scale construction.
What you'll do#
- Manage field engineering, operation planning, and project scheduling.
- Track quantities, procure materials, and handle contract administration.
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques to solve technical problems on-site.
- Maintain accurate records of job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Investigate incidents and identify solutions to keep work moving safely.
- Supervise field activities and assist with estimating.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer months, typically May through August.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as project needs require.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and integrity in all tasks.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Readiness to work overtime or weekends if the project schedule requires it.
