About the role#
As a Student Nurse Intern in the M/S CDU department, you will work under the direction of a registered nurse to protect and promote health, prevent illness, and alleviate suffering. You will assist the interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care and advocate for patients and their families. This role requires you to maintain a validated Skills Checklist and perform duties only after your skills have been verified by your school of nursing and your Kaweah Health preceptor.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with patients, families, and health care providers to formulate plans of care.
- Perform basic bedside care and nursing procedures under RN supervision.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, ambulation, and oral care.
- Document all care provided in the EMR and record intake, output, weight, height, and vital signs.
- Answer patient call lights within two minutes.
- Report changes in patient condition, needs, or activity to licensed staff.
- Collect, label, and deliver specimens.
- Provide post-mortem care and assist in transporting bodies to the morgue.
- Assist with emergency care, including crash cart checks and Code Blue responses.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and neat patient environment.
What you'll need#
- Current BLS certification.
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program with completion of the 3rd semester for ASN students or 4th semester for BSN students.
- Participation in an approved Work Study Program affiliated with your school of nursing or current Kaweah Health employment while enrolled in a qualifying nursing program.
- Ability to maintain a validated Skills Checklist.
- Knowledge of growth and development for patient and family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs.
- Current CA Certified Nursing Assistant certification is preferred.

- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
